When they presented the idea to Srila Gurudeva that they wanted to form a Kirtan group, he began thinking for a while and then came up with the name Rupa Kirtan Mandali. Rupa means form and beauty. The purpose of Kirtan is to glorify the names, forms, qualities and pastimes of Sri Krishna and his devotees.
